Greater Portland Metro Expands Service to Scarborough
A major step forward for regional transit.
Greater Portland Metro, in partnership with MaineDOT, the Maine Turnpike Authority, and the Town of Scarborough, has announced plans for a new fixed-route service connecting Scarborough and Portland along the U.S. Route 1 corridor; the first of its kind in Maine.
Supported by federal, state, and local funding, this project aims to ease congestion, improve mobility, and expand access to sustainable transportation options for southern Maine residents.
The new service is expected to operate seven days a week and will connect riders to key destinations including medical centers, shopping areas, and employment hubs. Route details and schedules are currently being developed, with opportunities for public input to come.
